Hong Kong Skating Union Athletes Selection Criteria for the Astana-Almaty 7th Asian Winter Games, 2011

The 7th Asian Winter Games (7th AWG) will be held in Astana and Almaty, Kazakhstan on 30 January 2011 to 6 February 2011. The Selection Committee consisted of three members was established for the candidates selection. The members are: ZHAO Ying (figure skating), LU Shuo (Short Track Speed Skating), LIU Dingding (Events Management).

The Selection Committee will select the candidates in accordance with the following criterias:

  1. Candidates’ technical ability
  2. Candidates’ past competitions result and recent skating ability
  3. Candidates’ ethics

The candidates list which selected by the Selection Committee and approved by the HKSU Executive Committee will be submitted to the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China. In case there is any objection to the Selection Committee decision, the written appeal should be submitted to the HKSU Executive Committee in two days since the nomination list was published, the Executive Committee will discuss the appeal and make the final decision. After this appeal, the decision shall be final and no more request will be accepted.

 

Figure Skating

1、 Candidates’ technical ability

The technical ability is the necessary condition, the candidates who reached the criteria in this item will be ranked by their past competitions result and recent skating ability.

  1. a)Hong Kong Championships
  2. b)Hong Kong Skating Union Figure Skating Level
  3. c)Minimum technical scores

 

2、 Candidates’ past events result and recent skating ability

All candidates who fulfill the criteria in item 1 will be ranked by their events result in the recent three seasons in accordance with the ISU World Standing Ranking principles. At the same time, the coaches’ evaluation report will be considered to evaluate the candidates’ recent skating ability.

3、 Candidates’ ethics 

The candidates will represent Hong Kong if he/she was selected and sent to the International Events. Therefore the candidates’ ethics in the past events/training/HKSU activities will be considered. The Selection Committee reserve the right to vote down the eligibility of each candidate in according with the candidate’s past ethics record.

 

Short Track Speed Skating

1、 Candidates’ technical ability

  1. a)Hong Kong Championships or China Mainland Championships

 

2、 Candidates’ past events result and recent skating ability

All candidates who fulfill the criteria in item 1 will be ranked by their events result in the recent three seasons in accordance with the ISU World Standing Ranking principles.

3、 Candidates’ ethics 

The candidates will represent Hong Kong if he/she was selected and sent to the International Events. Therefore the candidates’ ethics in the past events/training/HKSU activities will be considered. The Selection Committee reserve the right to vote down the eligibility of each candidate in according with the candidate’s past ethics record.
