WANG Xinyue – Achieved Best Result in Hong Kong Winter Sports history

WANG Xinyue has achieved the Best Result in Hong Kong Winter Sports history, 5th place in ISU STSS World Cup

WANG Xinyue has achieved the Best Result in Hong Kong Winter Sports history, 5th place in the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating 2011/2012 series. The competition was held in Nagoya, Japan from December 2 to 4, 2011. Ms. WANG Xinyue and Mr. LUI Pan To Barton participated in the competition for Hong Kong.

There were 139 athletes from 19 Countries/Regions competed for the 10 ISU Golden Medals in Men and Ladies 500m, 1000m, 1500m and Relay categories.

In the Ladies 1000m category Heats, Hong Kong athlete WANG Xinyue was scheduled to compete in No. 15 group and skated with DUDEK Alyson (USA), BORODULINA Tatiana (RUS), VALCEPINA Arianna (ITA). WANG got 1st place in this group with 1:35.166 and qualified for Quarterfinal. WANG skated with famous Chinese Skater LIU Qiuhong and skaters from Russia and USA in the Quarterfinal, WANG\’s result in Quarterfinal was 1:33.185 and qualified for Semifinal with 1st place. The Semifinal was a big challenge for WANG, she had to fight for two quotas for the Final with CHRISTIE Elise (GBR), BORODULINA Tatiana (RUS) and local Japan athlete SHIMIZU Sayuri. All four athletes who were fighting for the two quotas skated very close from the beginning, and there was an accident happened at the 7th lap (9 laps in total), SHIMIZU who placed 4th pushed BORODULINA who placed 3rd and both of them fell down, CHRISTIE and WANG qualified for the Final A with 1st and 2nd place respectively. WANG got 5th place in the Final A with the result of 1:33.113.

WANG Xinyue also competed in Ladies 500m category, and got 19th place with the result of 45.437.
